Kendra Wilhelmy, Secretary
Kendra Wilhelmy is a long-time educator with a passion for working with children. She worked as an inclusion educator in both Florida and Connecticut, teaching in some of the most challenging environments. This was how she discovered her true calling, literacy education. Kendra became a leader in the literacy field where she worked at both the school and district levels of literacy education. She educated teachers on how to maximize literacy programs in their classrooms and how to individualize instruction to focus on the diverse needs of each student. She created literacy libraries for schools where she was responsible for managing budgets, purchasing materials and for the creation and management of databases.
Using her experience as a leader in the education field, Kendra approaches her duties on the HOA Board of Directors much the same way that she did working in schools. She champions the need to have a community where people treat each other with respect, work together to achieve goals, help each other out in times of need and just get along. She loves to have Community Get Togethers and values the importance of getting to know your neighbors. Kendra understands the need for leadership that listens to the members, makes solid financial decisions and serves with integrity. She wants her time on the board to be one where people share their time, energy and expertise to better our community.
Kendra is an active supporter of several local charities. She is currently a member of the audit committee for Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies and was a member of the planning committee for their annual fundraising event. Kendra also works with Digital Vibez, a local organization specializing in supporting local youth. She is a current volunteer at many of their events and is a part of their fundraising gala planning committee. She and her husband, Tim, are also active with the United Way.
Kendra holds a BS degree in elementary education from Florida State University and a Masters Degree in Education with a specialization in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. She also holds endorsements for teaching ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and ESE (Exceptional Student Education).
